FEMCO Lathes

Worn FEMCO lathe in rough condition.

Whenever Ballscrew Guys end up working on the FEMCO lathes, they all look like this. Paint and decals worn off. None of the paneling is flat, all the sheet metal is dinged or dented. There often is a brown coating all over the machine, probably a haze in the air. There is a good possibility that this machine is refurbishing and repairing aluminum alloy rims. Yes, we know about these machines.

Side view of the FEMCO lathe Ballscrew Guys was asked to tighten up. On this machine both the X-Axis and Z-Axis needed attention. The main issue behind the axis looseness was the number of hours on the machine and not the most punctual preventative maintenance schedule.

One of the Ballscrew Guys technicians removing the servo motor and ball screw shaft brake on the Z-Axis. This is a FEMCO lathe which needed refurbishment in both the Z-Axis and X-Axis. Notice the layer of dust on everything. Harsh dusty environments have an impact on your precision CNC components and electronics.

Rebuildable ball nut from FEMCO lathe.
Rebuildable ball nut from FEMCO lathe.

The X-Axis ball screw ball nut removed from a FEMCO lathe, AS074237-1-03. This is a small diameter ball bearing ball nut, one that uses unusually sized balls. While there is some external corrosion, it is cosmetic. The ball nut and ball screw shaft are rebuildable. We return the positioning and preload to your lathe and machine center ball screws.
