Komo Solution

KOMO Solution Series
KOMO Solution Series

The KOMO solution series of CNC Routers often use Bosch Rexroth Ball screws to move the Y and Z axis. The X axis moves as a gantry over a fixed cut table. It is driven by a twin helical rack and pinion system.

Rack & Pinion

The rack and pinion drive system for the Komo Solution series CNC Routers. Used to move the x axis gantry over a fixed cut table. KOMO specified in the manual that this rail is inspected and cleaned daily. To be wiped with a rag. No compressed air. Does it actually get done? Nope.

On the other side of that pinion gear is a foam/sponge like gear used to oil the rack teeth. It’s supposed to be kept clean to lubricate. Most Solution owners are not aware it exists, let alone whether it’s covered in sawdust or not.

Y-Axis

The Y axis ball screw from a Komo solution CNC Router. This Bosch Rexroth ball nut only rides on one of four ball bearing raceways which are helixed around the ball screw shaft. So, if Komo locked up and failed, there is a very high probability that your ball nut can be rebuilt on a new track. This same ball nut is found on the German Weeke Routers as well as other European CNC wood working machinery.
